The all-electric Renault 5 is crowned Car of the Year 2025
It’s a double whammy for Renault! Following their success with the Renault Scenic at the 2024 Car of the Year Awards, they sustained their impressive winning streak when they claimed victory with the Renault 5 at the Car of the Year Awards 2025.

For the judges, the Renault 5 was the obvious choice. The model soared to victory, securing 353 points across 60 jurors – an enormous 62 votes ahead of second place, the Kia EV3, which finished with 291 points. The Renault 5’s win also makes it only the second time in the 62-year history of the Car of the Year Awards that a brand has won the top prize two years in a row. The last brand to do this was Fiat in 1995 and 1996 with the Punto and Bravo.

Worthy mentions
We were delighted to see our other fantastic represented brands Citroën and Dacia make the shortlist, with the Citroën C3/ë-C3 securing third place and the Dacia Duster taking fourth. And even more excitingly, the best of electric was celebrated! Most of the finalists were EVs, with all models having an electrified component such as hybrid or plug-in hybrid engines.
